I'm a semi-retired engineer who has claimed photography as a hobby for over 40 years, but now, with a digital SLR, I am eager to learn all I can about the taking and processing of digital photos. I enjoy nature and sports photography most of all.

Lenses - General
May 10, 2009 by lwh
I'd be interested in knowing what everyone's favorite lens is; i.e. the one they use most often, the one they feel is the most versatile. I'm interested in a fast lens, one that I can shoot indoors w/o flash -- mainly indoor sports, but also for candid family shots.
How fast does the lens need to be, 4.0, 2.8, 1.4, whatever you can afford? I have a Canon Rebel, but am open to other brands that you feel are worthwhile.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Photo Sales - Shutterfly

Mel, I opened a Pro Gallery account with Shutterfly about 6 weeks ago, but haven't "launched" it yet. I'm waiting for spring sports to get in full swing. Your main concerns with billing and mailing is the main reason I went with them. I thought this was a fairly inexpensive and hassle-free way of testing the market.
Most everyone goes goo-gah over a free photo of their kid playing ball, but do they think its good enough to buy?! I think my photos are "scrapbook worthy", but not sure if anyone will think they're good enough to buy, so I didn't want to waste a lot of time and money figuring out how to set up a PayPal account, postage, etc.
I've been a Shutterfly customer for a couple of years, mainly so I could order matte finishes, and have had no problem with them.
Good luck!
